Design of an automatic license plate reader

The increase in the number of vehicles and alarming rate theft defaulters daily prompts need for sophisticated matching technology to curb car theft, reduce traffic offenders, any other anomalies/irregularities affecting vehicles’ smooth operation. This study deals with design an automatic license plate reader which automatically captures image vehicle’s plate, transforms that into alphanumeric characters using optical character recognition or similar high-tech software, compares acquired one more databases interest law enforcement agencies against those stolen cars people suspected being involved criminal activities. automated capture, analysis, comparison vehicle plates typically occur within seconds enabling officer charge take appropriate actions.
